Antony and the Johnsons Review
This concert was akin to that giant space alien opera singer in The Fifth Element. It was out of this world. Antony has his own bizarre, otherworldly presence and it was perfection to see him play the Disney concert hall. The acoustics made all the difference for his subtlety and also to accentuate that amazing voice.
The lighting perfectly captured the mood and the orchestration breathed life into most of his simplistic songs, which were met with the most complex of vocal arrangements. He is just something that needs to be seen live in this kind of setting to believe how good he is.
He did a cover of Beyonce's Crazy In Love which is warped and wild! and at the very end he finally interacted with the crowd at length about moving to NY and his life there. He dedicated the last song to Transvestite activist Marsha Johnson and really hit it home vocally.
He is a once in a generation talent that needs to be heard.....More
